Class # 5 Robert Wringham
Topic: Living with Less...or: Minimalism 101

This class will explore the idea of living with very few material possessions. We'll look at the reasons we might want to do this: to save money, to save the planet, to save our souls. We'll discuss some hints and tips on how to live minimally, how to benefit from a minimalist hobby, and how to appreciate the bare necessities. We'll celebrate some of the heroes of minimalism, from 19th-Century rebel printer William Morris to future-facing digital minimalists. The class will also address some of the common criticisms of minimalism. If the students approve, there will even be a couple of songs and a reading.

ABOUT ROBERT:

Robert Wringham is a humor writer and performer from Britain. Among other things, he runs a magazine called "New Escapologist" (available at Monastiraki), which celebrates the art of running away from boring modern things like work, stress and debt. Minimalism - the art of living with less - is a central part of his irresponsible but rewarding philosophy. 2012 saw the publication of his first book, which is insultingly titled "You Are Nothing".
