Adriana Riquer

Mexican sculpter Adriana Riquer will be gracing the walls and floors of Monastiraki with her accumulations and patterns.

"Foresia, the name of this project, is the relationship between two animals of different species that help each other, a kind of mutually beneficial transportation system. This show is about friendship and sharing spaces and objects. I used some of the things kept in the store that are usually meant to support something (racks and table bases) and I used them to hold some designs relating to certain natural patterns made from cheap craft and decorative materials." - A.R.

Galerie Monastiraki

Coming April 2008

Mile-Ends magickal curiosity shoppe will transform the front third of itself into a gallery space
bent on exhibiting the comic, the psychedelic, the visionary and the folksy.

Showcasing local and international artists, Galerie Monastiraki will host a new group, dual or solo show every 5 weeks, revealing an exciting programme for 2008 and beyond.

We (the humans behind this transformation) seek to embed vital work into the stimulus rich environment of the boutique, maintaining a clear yet mutable division. We seek to heighten senses and facilitate exploratory stances.

There will be humour. There will be trippy. There will be monsters. There will be conceptual out-takes.

You are invited to witness and participate in every step of this journey.
The more you look, the more you see.

Jardin Noir - Hallowe'en In The Window

Once again Leyla Majeri and friends staged a wonderful and haunting performance in the window of the shop. Acetates and paper cutouts and shadow play to original music (Yomul Yuk) with an improvised encore set to Balinese gamalan music.
